The Certified Medical/Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides primary health care for detained and committed children, youths, and adults residing in a healthcare clinical environment.
The Certified Medical/Nursing Assistant works under the general administrative direction and guidance of the nurse practitioner and/or clinical nurse of the medical treatment facility and functions within the broad framework of nursing services, policies and procedures. The Certified Medical/Nursing Assistant exercises a degree of independence while prioritizing the delivery of care using time and resources efficiently. The CNA will receive technical guidance and consultation as necessary from clinical staff on matters affecting implementation of the nursing care plan for effective intervention in accordance with Nursing Practice Standards.

Requirements:
License/Registration:
Possess and maintain a current, active, valid, unrestricted license as a certified nursing assistant and in good standing in the District of Columbia and surrounding metropolitan area.
Life Support Training:
The CNA must possess and maintain current course completion documentation for CPR training.
